A child's individual needs are always the most important consideration, and as they become more active and skilful, the transition through to the next room will begin. This generally takes place at around 18 months for the Rising Stars room and 30 months for shooting Stars room. Of prime importance during this initial stage is the child's feeling of security within the new environment. This is achieved through a gradual process of the children being encouraged to play in the next room with the support of their individual key person. The visits are increasingly extended until the child feels confident.
Once your child is ready to move to the next room, parents will receive a move room letter detailing when this will take place and an opportunity to meet the room's senior nursery nurse and their child's new key person. You will be given a welcome pack and an opportunity to ask any questions and discuss your child's individual needs.
Children can learn from children of their own age group and children slightly older from themselves. Doors with vision panels and links to the next room mean they can slowly venture, when they're ready, onto the next area. The rooms within the nurseries are divided as follows:
