All staff are selected on an equal opportunity basis, following a scored selection process and references.
Our staff have qualifications, experience and training in childcare (NNEB, CACHE, NVQ, Level 3 or equivalent). Police and health checks are undertaken prior to appointment.
Our comprehensive staff selection process is as follows:
- Advertise in local and national press
- Shortlist applicants against job specification and experience
- Formal interview
- Observed and scored working with children
- Job offered subject to CRB checks and two references
Ongoing Staff Development
We develop our staff to ensure that we have a happy and motivated team which means that your child receives the best care from a consistent and dedicated key worker and the whole nursery team.
Once appointed our staff are monitored and helped to develop using a process called Quality Performance Management (QPM), which provides individual staff member with objectives to work towards. They are then awarded Performance Related Pay (PRP) in line with the progress made. Every year staff can identify what their specific training needs are and design a programme of training. Twinkles Nurseries will then arrange training to meet their needs. This means that are staff are continually updating their skills, knowledge and experience.
- Training - all staff undergo a Quality Performance Management (QPM) and an annual appraisal, their Training Needs are identified and analysed for the year.
- In House training as well as external training events are accessed depending on the organisational and individual training needs.
The govenrment released the 10 year Childcare Stratetgy in 2004, which sets out targets that all staff working in a nursery had to have a minimum of a level 3 qualification and at least one Early Years Professional by 2015. At Twinkles we maintain our high quality of care by employing qualified and experienced staff. We already exceed expectations for the future and have five members of staff qualified at degree level and three of them have their Early Years Professional Status.
At Twinkles Nurseries we hold an annual staff awards evening to say a big thank you to staff for all their hard work and dedication over the year. We also like to involve parents and have included an award for carer of the year voted by you. There are awards for the following categories:
- Dedication to duty
- Employee of the year
- Colleague of the year (voted by staff)
- Carer of the year (voted by parents)
The winners are awarded a bonus and their certificates are displayed in the entrance lobby.
